resolvingz

I would love to say that I'm one of those folks that never, ever uses plastic bags. I'd love to say it but I can't. I have a collection of those dudes hanging out in my laundry room waiting to be filled with cat waste. It's like the give-a-penny-take-a-penny bin at the local 7-11 - it'll never be empty unless I start trying to do something different. Once all the bags are gone, I'm gonna be bagging up poop in biobags, I promise.

I just bought some reusable, washable food sacks on Etsy in hopes of never using plastic bags again. They're washable and light and can easily be carried around in anticipation of a trip to the local grocer. Yeah, two bucks for a bag costs more than the free one at the store, but I am more than happy to set out some cash knowing that I am doing something positive.

The other plan is to begin tossing all food waste into the green bin. Keep in mind that this is limited to items that can be composted - I'm not going to be tossing in uneaten nachos. Things like orange peels, carrot scraps, lettuce past its prime. It shouldn't be hard at all and it should mean that I put almost nothing in the trash bins. I already to a very, very good job with recycling thanks to my overpriced trash can.

Gotta start somewhere...
